President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the Davao Region launching of the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) Food and Travel Festival dubbed ‘Kaon Ta!’ at the Abreeza Mall in Davao City.
The three-day event from December 7-9, 2018 is seen to create awareness and interest both on the Filipino cuisine and the country’s tourism destinations.
The Food and Travel Festival was simultaneously launched in Davao City, Pampanga, and Laguna that featured local chefs, local dishes, local products, and farm tourism sites.
The event, which is a partnership with the Ayala Malls, shall also feature presentations by relevant practitioners and industry stakeholders on Best Practices in Farm Tourism, New Agricultural Technologies, and its contribution to sustainable development.
In his message, President Duterte commended the partnership between the DOT and the Ayala Malls on the launching of the Food and Travel Festival.
“The success of this platform demonstrates our commitment to raise awareness and generate more demand for these growing industries. More importantly, this will also provide our people access to a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. Let this occasion therefore strengthen your resolve to further develop Filipino cuisine, agricultural products and technology that celebrate the best of being Filipino,” he said.
“Let this gathering spark greater appreciation of our diverse cuisine as we steer Philippine agriculture and tourism into even greater heights,” the President added.
