Modern biblical scholarship claims impartiality in establishing the historical record of the ancient world. Its approach, however, flows from modern philosophical presuppositions that view faith as solely interior and divorced from the reality of history. This talk looks at the devastating consequences of the legacy of modern philosophical positions in biblical scholarship and how this has affected Catholic theology and belief.
