This video shows how to clamp the carburetor bank securely and how to loosen the bracket screws to split the bank.
Technically speaking, each carb here has a fuel enricher rather than a "choke".
I used #1, #2, and #3 JIS bits and 1/4-inch socket with a magnet to hold the bits. Better sets contain at least two "sub-sizes" of #2 bits.
Using a crescent wrench and a hammer to break the screws loose is admittedly a makeshift approach. JIS impact drivers are readily available (e.g., from Vessel).
The thread penetrant used was a 50-50 mix of acetone and transmission fluid (a simplified version of Ed's Red).
