Her Majesty The Queen
It is with very great sadness that we have received the news that Her Majesty The Queen passed away on Thursday 8 September 2022.

Messages of condolence were given by Chairman of BCP Council Councillor Nigel Hedges, and the Leader of BCP Council Councillor Drew Mellor.

Flags will be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect for the rest of the mourning period. A national minute of silence will take place on Sunday 18 September at 8pm.

A Proclamation of His Majesty The King was read at BCP Council Civic Centre on Sunday 11 September.

Floral tributes are encouraged to be laid by the War Memorials in Bournemouth and Poole and by the North Porch of Christchurch Priory.

Condolence books for any residents to sign will be available from 11am on Friday 9 September at Bournemouth and Christchurch libraries as well as Poole Museum.

The meeting of BCP Council scheduled for 13 September will not go ahead as a mark of respect to the Queen.

Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole will join with the nation in mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the day of the official state funeral on Monday 19 September.

We will be supporting our residents with three TV screens broadcasting the funeral and, in line with national guidance, we will also be joining with other local authorities and pausing non-essential services during the Bank Holiday.
