Curtis Almeter is a cystic fibrosis patient that received a double lung transplant at the Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital Transplant Center in St. Louis. Prior to his lung transplant, he had frequent breathing treatments. He also took part in respiratory therapy that assisted him with clearing his lungs. Curtis had also been on a wide variety of medications since he was born.
As a Barnes-Jewish Hospital patient, healthy exercise was a focus in his care. As patient in the lung transplant program, he was required to keep a regular exercise plan at 30 minutes per day.
Prior to his lung transplant, Curtis didn't really know what it was like to breathe.
