Established in 1927 & revived in 91. Under the baton of Prof. Fillip Timbang, the multi-awarded band hails from Las Piñas City & performs at various events in the Philippines, proudly carrying the Filipino culture & Las Piñero tradition through music.
Las Piñas Band also known as Banda de Las Piñas is the oldest known band born in the heart of Las Piñas City. The band is witness to significant phases in Philippine history as it lived through different eras: Spanish, American, Japanese, and modern-day.
The band was founded by Master Sergeant and Professor, Daniel Mateo Fajardo. He is a soldier, musician, composer, and linguist who became Assistant Conductor to Colonel Walter Loving and Captain Alfonso Fresnido of the Philippine Constabulary Band. Banda de Las Piñas or Las Piñas Band won prestigious competitions including the Philippine Carnival (Manila Carnival) National Band Contests. Upon his death in 1959, band operations were closed by Daniel Fajardo's family because there was no one to replace the maestro.
After 38 years, a group of young and talented musicians brought the idea of reopening the band. Under the approval of Raymundo B. Fajardo (grandson of Daniel Fajardo) who became the band manager, the band was revived under the name Las Piñas Band 91. Mr. Fidelito "Feddie" Timbang was elected by the group as maestro or band director and held the position for 29 years until his untimely passing in 2020. He was replaced by his son, Mr. Filip Timbang who is the current maestro and band director.
Though the band had different names used during the course of time, Las Piñas Band 91, Las Piñas Band and Banda de Las Piñas are the same marching band under the same management established in 1927.
From 1927 to 1991 and towards the future, we vow to share our passion, proudly carrying the Las Piñero culture and tradition with us as we pass it on to the next generation.
Continuing our legacy and tradition of excellence in music, we are Las Piñas Band.
