A high-ranking North Korean official has met the US secretary of state in New York.
Talks between Kim Yong-chol and Mike Pompeo will continue on Thursday, as part of preparations for next month's summit between the two countries' leaders.
The White House says it is expecting President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un to meet in Singapore on June 12.
