Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev vowed Thursday to make concerted efforts to fight terrorism.
"Israel, Russia and the U.S. and many other countries share the goal of eliminating the Islamic State," Netanyahu told reporters.
Medvedev said that both his country and Israel suffer from "terrorism" which stems from "common roots."
"This is why there is a need to fight terror together," said Medvedev, quoted by local media.
The meeting was scheduled as part of a series of meetings between Russia and Israel over the past year to coordinate their activities in Syria, Israel's northern neighbor.
During his visit to Israel, Medvedev also met with President Reuven Rivlin, and leader of the Israeli opposition Isaac Herzog.
On Friday, Medvedev is expected to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank city of Jericho before he returns to Moscow.
