Edit: ILM occupied several buildings at this location and up the street beginning in 1978 and stayed there until 2005 when they moved to the SF location to concentrate only on CGI FX. The location changed ownership and became "Kerner Optical", changed names again several years later to "3210 Studios" and remained until last week. Despite the different company names, they worked hand in hand with ILM and Lucasfilm creating the most astonishing practical effects all the way up until the end. The diminishing need for practical effects, the state of the economy, the actors strike, and a cruddy landlord all contributed to the perfect storm and the decision to close the facility. Sadly, it will be re-developed into something different now.
