Urban mobility is an important topic in most major cities around the world. Reducing traffic congestion, enhancing the quality of public transportation, and increasing active transportation (walking and bicycling) are all challenges, especially in developing countries with limited resources. The ideal scenario is to plan accordingly to accommodate future urban growth. This lecture will present a scope of Mobility Planning with examples in Brazil and the Dominican Republic. It will overview mobility indicators of the current scenario and future expectations after the conclusion of the plan. This analysis allows comparing the future state of mobility 1) if all the recommendations of the mobility plan are considered and 2) if nothing is done.
