Jumbo mealworm are simply a larger, fully-grown version of the standard mealworm (Tenebrio molitor). While regular mealworms typically reach about 1.5 to 2.5 cm in length, jumbo mealworms can grow to around 3 to 4 cm or even longer. They have a similar appearance to standard mealworms, with an elongated, segmented, and soft body, but their size is significantly greater. Their color is generally a pale yellow to light brown, though they may appear slightly darker as they mature. Jumbo mealworms are often bred specifically for use as pet food, especially for reptiles, birds, and fish, due to their increased size, which makes them easier for larger animals to consume. They are also sometimes used for human consumption in some parts of the world, thanks to their high protein and nutrient content. Fish love to eat grubs and larva, and these are no exception.
