We tested the Godox S30 LED Focusing Light and accessories in this "part advertising and mostly edutainment video" using theatrical lighting principles. Conceived in an Edward Hopperesque style and color palette, we also play off of lessons Buster Keaton teaches when we observe his use of Gesture.

Focusing lights originated in the theater and eventually became popular amongst filmmakers and videographers from Hollywood to more simple productions due to their amazing flexibility. Now they are available for photographers to use across a wide range of applications such as product photography, still life, portraits and interview set-ups, wedding photography, fine art photography and so much more.

Inspired by Buster Keaton's single point perspective which allows the audience to be in on the joke even when the main character is clueless, this short skit illustrates what might be motivating the characters within the scene of the photo we created.

David & I share some of our thinking that went into the idea both for the photo and the behind the scenes video including showing time-lapse video of the set being built as well as some historical reference footage from the silent film era.
