Even though these countries have a similar size, north Korea has a population of 26 million people, and South Korea has a population of 51 million people.
However, the real differences come in when we start to talk about their economies: North Korea has a GDP of around 19 billion, and South Korea has almost 100 times as much, with a GDP of 1.8 trillion dollars
South korea’s people are also living much wealthier lives, and make an average of 35,000 dollars every year, whereas people in north korea have to live off of an average of 729 dollars yearly.
North Korea has a large military with 1.28 million active duty personnel, compared to south korea’s 555 thousand.
North Korea is also one of the few countries in the world to possess nuclear weapons, and is estimated to currently have around 40 nukes, whereas south Korea has none.
