39,000 were at Maine Road for the last game of the season, City's biggest crowd of the year. That included many thousands from relegation candidates Sunderland who took the lead just before halftime. In the end though Niall Quinn notched his 20th league goal of the season and City secured a 5th place finish, their highest in thirteen years.
