This is Part Two of our Holy Land Pilgrimage, where we visited ISRAEL. It truly is a holy place, because we got to see where Jesus walked, taught and lived.
From Jordan, we crossed into Israel via bus and drove to Jericho, the oldest city in the world to see the Sycamore Tree and Mount Temptation. Then, we went to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Then on to the Dead Sea.
After, we spent the next days in Nazareth, Jerusalem and Bethlehem to follow the life of Jesus Christ. This included the Garden of Gethsemane, Mount Zion (where we saw the Last Supper Room, King David's Tomb, the famous Dormition Abbey, St. Peter's Church of St. John the Baptist).
Then on to the Old City of of Jerusalem, to the Pool of Bethesda, the Church of St. Anne and Via Dolorosa (14 Stations of the Cross) as well as the Western Wall. We also visited Caesarea, built by Herod the Great, where Peter baptized the Centurion Cornelius. Here we saw the Amphitheater and many ruins.
What a trip this was. I learned so much and definitely have a deeper appreciation of the Bible now.
