UFC 97: Redemption (not to be confused with UFC 17: Redemption) was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on April 18, 2009, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

In one of the most ironically titled events of the year, UFC 97 featured Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva defending his title against Thales Leites after a disappointing and universally panned performance against Patrick Cote the previous fall.

Although UFC 97 broke the official UFC attendance record set the previous year by UFC 83, which was also held in Montreal, it was a disappointment, with Silva dancing his way to a Unanimous Decision victory that had fans in attendance booing him heavily.
