In this video, part 1 of a 3-video series of how to deep clean a Miele Blizzard CX1 bagless canister vacuum, I show you how to prepare the unit for the deep clean, which involves eliminating any lose particles, chunks of dirt, fur, etc from the components before washing them.
- The deep clean should be done monthly if you use this vacuum weekly (depends on how often you use it and how dirty it gets).
- I said every 2-6 months in this video series and that is minimal; but Miele recommends doing this at least once a month to maintain the vacuum’s performance and integrity.
(You’d be surprised about how little time it takes for a bagless vacuum‘s filter(s) to clog with dust, which reduces suction and stresses out the motor).
NOTES & TIPS:
This method alone is a great thing to do by itself every time you are done vacuuming with it, or at least every 1-5 times you use it. It makes it easier to deep clean later on so you don’t have to put too much time into cleaning it out.
* Most people don’t have air compressors. If you don’t, tap these parts off - outside - into a trash can. Again; the goal is to get rid of the lose, bulky bits of dirt, fur etc that cling to the inside of the dust bin and the filter pre-motor. You may have to pick off some pieces, especially on the filter.
* Consider wearing a face mask, gloves, and eye protection when doing this because dust will fly and potentially get on you.
* As you can see - an air compressor makes this part very quick and effortless, but if you don’t have one it is still necessary to get all the lose dirt and dust off of the parts before washing them - especially off of the premotor filter (GORE CleanStream filter).
