This composition was taught to Smt M.S. and Smt Radha by Brahmasri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer some time in early 1980. The duo never performed this during that period. Smt Radha performed this song for the first time almost 32 years later, at this function. She carried the song forward with all the granduer and depth that she has imbibed from her illustrious mother's music. Her grand daughter Aishwarya, has been admirably trained to render vocal support. The wonderful team of seasoned accompanists helped raise the level of the concert to Herculean heights. Sri R.K.Shriramkumar on the violin followed like a shadow, and Sri K.P.Parameswaran on the mridangam gave the wonderful punches that are a hallmark of the Thanjavur style of mridangam playing. Unfortunately, due to some technical glitches, this particular song could not be recorded by the official videographer. Instead, this was recorded by a member of the audience, a devoted rasika of Smt Radha. We present here, just the song rendition, sans the improvisations and the thani avarthanam.
