Hi, Matt with Etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about the Kuat Grip Ski and Snowboard Carrier on the 2023 Jeep Gladiator. Our carrier today has the ability to carry up to four skis and two snowboards. Now, this one does come in a couple other sizes and colors. This is also one of our more premium options, and has a lot of premium features. Let's take a look at some of those now.
Our first feature is gonna be our handle here. It's very large, and all you have to do is push it the activate it, which is gonna be great for when you have those thicker gloves or mittens on. When both are opened up, we'll see that we have these rubber teeth on the inside. That's just gonna help secure the skis in place so they're not sliding around and scratching one another. And another great premium feature is we have this button on the inside of both sides, and we just press that and pull.
We'll activate this sliding mechanism on the carrier. And that's gonna make it a lot easier to reach and pull our skis off our vehicle. So now I have access to my skis, and I can hit the slopes. And closing them up is real simple. All you gotta do is push 'em.
Hear 'em click into place, and you know they're locked in. Another feature to the note is it has three locking points to accommodate different size skis. So one, two, three. And do the same thing on the other side. Also note this locking mechanism on the front.
That's just gonna slide over. And now you can't activate your handle, so you don't have to worry about anything knocking into it or someone hitting it on accident. And that's gonna be secured too by this locking core here. So you can actually lock that with your included key and no one will be able to flip this over and unlock and grab your skis. Our clamps here are also gonna have a lock core as well that uses the same key system as the lock core above. Something to note, it will be on either side depending on how you install it. And the clamp's gonna operate by holding down this rubber strap at the bottom. The rubber's gonna be nice because that's not gonna scratch your crossbars at all. And the strap's gonna be adjustable by this bolt in the back that you can use your included Allen key to tighten. You're also gonna have this clip here that will tighten your strap down just by holding the end piece and pushing it into the slot and pulling down. If you don't wanna use the clamps, you can purchase that direct mounting kit, which is sold separately, and that'll let you gain access to using the T channel on here. Another feature to note is the tilt away feature. So depending on your setup, you can actually tilt this, and it can accommodate a lot of different setups. As for how it's gonna sit on our vehicle, we have our HD 68-inch crossbars, and this is only gonna take up less than half that space. So that's gonna give you a lot of room for the other side to put either a roof box or other equipment up top. As for how much room it's gonna add to the top of your vehicle, it's gonna add about 4 1/2 inches to the top. So that's just something to be mindful if you're going through any low-clearance areas, like garages. This is gonna be constructed from aluminum, so that's gonna make it lightweight and corrosion-resistant
