A therapeutic method known as Patterning is available through the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential .
In this therapy, the child lies on a table while others move his/her arms and legs in a way that is said to stimulate brain activity. It uses, among other techniques, passive and repetitive movement to teach correct motor patterns.
In this video, Hulet Smith (Occupational Therapist/far left) and Megan Smith (Physical Therapist/middle) use the method on their daughter, Sophia, who has Cerebral Palsy.
The couple attended sessions at the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential which instructs on the proper way to perform this type of therapy.
This video clip is for educational purposes only.
Patterning should always be done under the supervision of a professional who has had proper training.
