Vladimir Putin has vowed to “kick the enemy out of our territory” in response to Ukraine’s surprise border incursion. The Russian president made the comments in a meeting with top security officials to discuss the fighting inside Russia’s Kursk and Belgorod regions. ”
[T]he defence ministry’s main task is to push, to kick the enemy out of our territory,” Putin said. Ukraine has engaged in the fighting to improve its negotiating position, he added.
The Russian leader also said that the West had ignored a ceasefire proposal over the summer as Ukraine was planning the attack.
