(22 Jan 2012) DAMIR DOME WINTER 2012/13
The young designer Damir Doma showed a Fall-Winter 2012 menswear collection in the Marais district of Paris on Saturday dedicated to restless spirits and modern-day nomads, and entitled "Somewhere, someone is waiting for you."
His ethnically-inspired creations travelled the globe from the steppes of Russia to the Dogon villages of Mali, combining and layering dense patterns and richly-toned fabrics.
Tailored jackets belted at the waist contrasted with the comfort of billowing trousers, ponchos and rumpled boots, ideal for mounting a camel or stretching out on the Orient Express.
The decadent wildness of the collection was heightened by glossy vests in raccoon or muskrat fur, some layered over silk kimono shirts in jewel shades.
Accessories such as wooden bead necklaces and polished horn belts appeared like treasures from the Silk Road.
