Real Madrid president and European Super League chairman Florentino Perez has reiterated his support for the controversial project, which he said is "more necessary than ever" for the future of football. Perez criticised UEFA and LaLiga for their lack of innovation, transparency and respect for the fans, and accused them of monopolising the sport. He also said that the Super League would ensure financial fair play and bring the competition closer to the fans. Perez expressed his hope that the European Court of Justice would rule in favour of the Super League on December 21st, when it will deliver its final verdict on the case. Perez and Real Madrid are among the few clubs that have not withdrawn from the Super League, along with Barcelona and AC Milan, despite the fierce backlash that followed its announcement in April 2021.
