The Labor Department announced the job openings report for July, and the numbers were above the predictions of those Wall St economists.
During the month of July, job openings reached 6.6 million, which is great news considering the financial experts guessed that 6 million jobs were available.
In July, the job openings rate increased from 4.2% to 4.5% and experts predict this number to slowly increase over time.
Remember when I told you that United Airlines was set to furlough 3,000 pilots?
Well, the Pilot’s union and United have reached an agreement, and thousands of pilots will remain employed.
A statement from United Airlines explained: “to try and reduce the number of involuntary furloughs at United and are happy we were able to reach an agreement in principle with ALPA that can potentially save pilot jobs.”
This is great news for these pilots, who keep us safe when traveling across the sky and deserve to maintain their jobs, even if travel demand has decreased.
As of today, just 2 states are still awaiting approval for President Trump’s weekly $300 LWA unemployment benefits.
47 states have now been approved for the benefits, congrats Delaware, and just Nebraska and my home state of Nevada have not been given the OK by FEMA to disburse these funds.
Come on Nebraska, Nevada and even FEMA! The deadline to get these benefits is tomorrow, September 10th!
Please make sure all 49 states are covered with these vital unemployment funds, sorry South Dakota, your state opted out of this program.
Finally, Mitch McConnell and the Senate announced their “skinny” stimulus package, which includes some good...no, GREAT news for unemployment claimants across the country.
I’m hearing reports that this new piece of stimulus legislation will not only extend weekly $300 Federal unemployment benefits until December 27th, but they will also be backdated to the end of July!
That means that you’ll get a check for about $2,400 right away, $300 weekly from the Feds moving forward, and your state unemployment insurance or PUA.
Oh, and I forgot about the weekly $300 or $400 LWA unemployment benefits!
While these LWA benefits are running out quickly, you still might be able to double-dip those funds with the new stimulus package unemployment benefits.
This is amazing news for unemployment claimants across America, and I just hope that this bill can be passed by Congress this week, so that President Trump can give it his signature and put it into action next week.
If you still haven’t applied for unemployment benefits in your state, I don’t know what to tell you at this point.
These extended, enhanced unemployment funds won’t be available for long, so make sure you get your application in before your state runs out of money.
For all the gig-workers, self employed, independent contractors or 1099 workers, PUA unemployment funds are specifically designed for you!
Get your state benefits, plus the extra $300 or $400 unemployment checks from the Feds just by submitting your employment history and telling them that you’ve been out of work due to that thing out there.
