This is the reason why Koigi wa Wamwere 'Refused to Die' in the hands of president Moi and Jomo Kenyatta. He fought for second liberation and multiparty democracy, at a time when President Moi's regime was untouchable. Moi arrested, victimized, tortured and jailed him for nine years. Police would be sent to his house to watch him overnight...then leave in the morning.
A young Wamwere had once wrote an article that was critical of Jomo Kenyatta in the Sunday Post, and was subsequently detained in 1975 and held in prison for three years.
