Last week Ruari our apprentice took his first set of pipes from start to finish, hand turning every section and mount of the pipes!
There is no better achievement than making your first set of pipes and getting to test them before they go to the customer!

The pipes were hemped up, bag put on and reeds fired in before this video and away they went!

The set Ruari has made is a "C" set with plain nickel ring caps, ferrules and slides. The customer opted for the aged imitation ivory mounts that are convincingly like ivory! These pipes are set up with a Kilberry Bagpipes plastic pipe chanter, Duncan Soutar reed, Canmore bag and Neil Selbie drone reeds.
