As was expected for months, the AIADMK has called off it’s alliance with the BJP in Tamil Nadu. AIADMK’s D Jayakumar lashed out at the BJP state chief K Annamalai for his comment on Dravidian stalwart C N Annadurai, while referring to an event dating 1956. The AIADMK took exception to his remarks at what it thought was denigrating towards Anna. Political analyst Sriram Seshadri said that Annamalai is changing the politics of the state. But whether that results in electoral gains or not, one would have to wait and see. Vice President of Tamil Nadu BJP, Narayanan Thirupathy said BJP has been very clear that they will only stitch up alliances closer to elections. He goes on to say that the BJP is increasing its footprint in Tamil Nadu. Many people, specially youngsters are joining the party in hordes.AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan said respect is commanded and not demanded. If you want to grow your party you have to be grounded. AIADMK has already proved itself. Political analyst S. Muralidharan says it's BJP's policy to stitch up any alliance close to elections. Now Jayakumar says we will decide about it when the time comes. Both the parties are trading accusations and behaving like school kids.
