The meaning of the word Kirtan is "songs of devotion." For thousands of years, this ancient Hindi tradition has been played out daily in temples and ceremonies in India from where it migrated to the west. Participating in a Kirtan ceremony is akin to participating a communal prayer session.  Led by Jai Uttal and his band you will be invited to participate in this ancient devotional tradition by chanting repetitively and giving yourself up to its pleasant, sweet melodies. Together in a 2,400-year-old cave we will pull down the screen between audience and musician and slowly enter into a communal state of ecstasy that opens hearts and reaches up to the heavens. Amen. Jai Uttal is one world renowned leader of the Kirtan ceremonies who studied and taught in the temples of India, where he soaked up the ancient tradition and now spreads his message and his world-view to communities all over the world.
