Can we rely on evidence and reason whilst abandoning absolute truth, or do we need reality after all?

In a post-truth world, tribal agreement seems to have replaced reason and evidence. But is a world where our truths are tribal sustainable? Don't we need a shared framework of thought to prevent fragmentation and confrontation?

Homi Bhabha: Professor of the Humanities at Harvard, Bhabha is a leading voice in postcolonial studies. He is the author of The Location of Culture and Nation and Narration.

Rebecca Goldstein: Rebecca Goldstein is a philosopher and author of Plato at the Googleplex: Why Philosophy Won't Go Away and 36 Arguments for the Existence of God: A Work of Fiction. Goldstein is a MacArthur Fellow and has received the National Humanities Medal, the National Jewish Book Award, and numerous other honours.
