Chillai Kalan begins in Kashmir. The 40 days period of harsh winter started from Monday. Night temperatures have dropped less than minus 6 degrees. The harsh winter period comes with its share of problems for the people living in sub zero temperatures. The water pipes freeze and there are long electricity cuts.
