The deltic class was a direct result of the (eventual) sucessful running of the origonal english electric "deltic" 001. I saw this loco in action during it's trials and actual passenger runs when i lived in finsbury park north london some 55 years ago when i was ten. the origonal loco is now in york musuem i believe. we see no: 55019 "royal highland fusillier" in BR blue. when i first saw these locos they were in leaf green with a light green skirt and white numbering. as can be seen and heard the years have not diminished it's throaty roar or it's projection of raw power when you look at the cab ends at the relatively small cab windows when compared to a class 40 or 37. it is seen here leaving kelling cutting on its way to holt in brilliant sunshine during the NNR diesel gala.
