If you get shot, here's how to save your life. A bullet from even a small pistol travels at 1000 miles per hour, and its high speed and small size make it exert a lot of pressure on a small part of your body. The bullet first pierces your skin, and if it hits a bone, it can break it and move on to damage organs and blood vessels, causing a hole in your body and making you bleed. Do not apply something hot to the wound, as it won't stop the bleeding. Also, do not try to remove the bullet yourself—you can live with a bullet in your body—and avoid trying to close the wound with mud or glue. Nine out of ten deaths from bullet injuries are due to blood loss, so to stop the bleeding, put a piece of cloth inside the wound, cover it with another cloth, and press your hand over it. This will help stop the bleeding significantly. Finally, call for help.
