Yes ma’am I want some ham 🤌🏼.
My husband always requests a cherry glazed ham for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. This is an easy holiday cook and it also happens to be delicious.
Here’s how I do it:
Smoke at 250 degrees for 1.5 hours directly on grate. Transfer to tray or cast iron pan and add liquid (I like to use Coke or Cherry Coke) and cover with foil. Increase smoker temperature to 300 degrees. The ham is finished when an internal temperature of 140 is reached. Pour liquid out of pan (I leave a small amount) and begin glazing ham every 10 minutes for 30 minutes. I like to broil my ham in the oven for 5 minutes before serving.
Glaze deets:
1 cup cherry preserves
1/2 cup water
1 lemon juice and zest
1 T Dijon Mustard
1 T brown sugar
1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 t cumin
1/2 t allspice
1/2 t nutmeg
1/4 t salt
1/4 cardamom
Combine all ingredients in saucepan and bring to boil over medium heat, boil for 2-3 minutes.
*I strain preserves through mesh strainer and discard the cherry pieces, this is optional 😃.
Cherry preserves can be substituted for your favorite fruit preserve.
