⚓️ A port town that’s equal parts historic and functional, it has medieval churches and castles jutting above the Adriatic

✈️ From Bari airport it’s just a 40 minute drive, if you’re going to explore Puglia rent a car as it’s not really possible to get around using public transport (PRO TIP: never get the insurance from third party websites online, opt for the full insurance direct from the rental company when you arrive as they cover you completely whereas the booking websites only cover up to a certain amount generally, also cuts out the middle man if you need to claim)

🍴You’ve got to try the fresh cannoli from Gasperini (the pistachio flavour was to die for). Also try Porto Rosso (food with the best views) or Locanda Indelli (for a romantic evening)

🏛️ Visit the Monopoli Cathedral and take in the views at Castello di Carlo, the Il Bastione del Molino Ruins are also quite impressive

🌊 The Adriatic Sea is beautiful, take a dip at Cala Porta Vecchia

🕰️ A day is more than enough to see Monopoli so it makes a perfect day trip. I recommend using Locorotondo as a base and then driving in to other towns such as Monopoli or Alberobello
