Black malt is a key ingredient in many beer styles, including stouts and porters, and can add a distinct roasted flavor and color to your brew.
But did you know that there are different types of black malt available? De-husked black malt, also known as Carafa Special or Midnight Wheat, has had its outer husk removed before roasting. This can result in a smoother flavor and less astringency compared to normal black malt.
