The second international airport ( Kolkata Airport ) will be built for Kolkata in West Bengal . In order to reduce the burden of flight movement at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Dum Dum, the West Bengal government has decided to build a second airport. The second airport will be built near Kolkata. This information has been given by an official on Friday. The official told PTI that the state government is looking for land for the new airport in South 24 Parganas district.
The official said that Bhangar could also be a possible place for the new airport. He said that recently Chief Secretary H.K. Dwivedi has directed District Magistrate of South 24 Parganas P. Ulaganathan to find such land for the proposed airport, where an international airport can be built. The Indian Administrative Service official said that the pressure at Dum Dum airport in North 24 Parganas district is very high. That is why the need has been felt for the construction of a new airport near Kolkata.
Second airport to be built for Kolkata
He said that the best location for the second airport could be South 24 Parganas. He said that it could be the second largest airport in the state. The official said Ulaganathan has been asked to find a place where a three-km-long runway can be built.
Government looking for land for airport
Let us tell you that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Dum Dum, Kolkata is one of the main airports in the country. The customs department is also present at this civil airport. The runway length of this airport is 11900 feet. Due to a lot of pressure on this airport, the Bengal government has decided to build a second airport near Kolkata.
