Close to 100 people have been killed in Nigeria’s northern state of Katsina in the first days of February alone. For nearly a decade, countries in the Sahel region such as Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Mali have been battling terrorism and other forms of insecurity. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed as a result, and properties destroyed.
