V/Line passenger service 8865 recorded by my wife as we sit at the level crossing departs Lara on it's trip from Southern Cross Railway Station in Melbourne through to Warnambool which is located about 260 kilometres west-southwest of Melbourne along the Victorian Coast Line.
V/Line N Class.
The N Class locomotive was built in Somerton, Victoria between 1985 and 1987. There are 25 in total, and they are numbered N451 thru N475. They were all originally built as broad gauge locomotives and initially serviced regional Victoria. Some have since been converted to standard gauge, and run the Melbourne to Albury line, leaving the broad gauge N class to run Warnambool, Swan Hill, Shepparton and Bairnsdale lines to name but a few. One or two have now been sold off for use elsewhere.
The N Class have had a variety of different liveries. They started out as tangerine orange with a grey stripe and now most of them sport the purple and yellow of the PTV (Public Transport Victoria) livery.
One of the defining features of the N class is they are all named after Victoria Cities. All, that is, except N453 which is named City of Albury. Albury is in fact, in New South Wales. N465, named City of Ballarat actually has a name plate that says City of Ballaarat, which is the original spelling of the name.

About me: I like to film trains as often as I can. Most of what comes through my part of Victoria, Australia are freight and grain trains. They are predominately SG and run on the main line between Melbourne, Victoria and Adelaide, South Australia. I do also get some trains occasionally along the old BG line that runs between North Geelong and Ballarat.
I have over 1600 videos, a lot of which are in playlists. I have a variety of end screens that I use, so be sure to keep an eye out for them, as they often change.
