SOT Woman saying in English: " It is a good thing that he is going";
SOT man saying: "He should be responsible for what he did. It is normal that he was replaced. His people (Serbs) are clever enough to take care about their future"
SOT Alexander Ivanko, Spokesman for the IPTF, in English:
"The United Nations believes that a person indicted for genocide, crimes
against humanity and grave breaches of the Geneva convention, dismissal is only the first step to the Hague. The UN believes that Madam Plavsic should give Mladic a one way ticket to the Holland, and if there are no funds available a number of officers like myself will contribute";
SOT Colonel Simon Haselock, spokesman for IFOR, in English:
"The announced changes are essentially of an internal nature and are based on the plans of Madam Plavsic and the rest of the Bosnia-Serb civilian leadership. As such they represent a normal course in the affairs of the party and a re-inforcement of the principle of the civilians controlling the military"
WS presser
SOT Bosnian Government spokesman Mirza Hajric, in English:
"Unfortunately I don't think its a good enough step for two reasons, one is that what is expected from the leadership is to indict all the war criminals to the Hague court, so this move is short from what is expected. And if you look at what happened to (Radovan) Karadzic, he was forced to step down but continue to play the role behind the scenes, and the same could happen to Mladic if he is not sent to the Hague"
WS of ext of building; CU sign of "High Representatives"
SOT Michael Maclay, Carl Bildt's spokesman: "
We have heard many times that Mladic is going to resign. We of course think this long over due. We would welcome this if this the case but we will only be happy when Mladic is sent off to the Hague to be tried for crimes of war charges made against him"
