Diane Guerreo’s sat down with SHE Media CEO, Samantha Skey, for a keynote at #BlogHer19 Creators Summit in Brooklyn, New York.
Diane kicks off her keynote by telling the audience that her last name, Guerrero, means warrior.
She shared with the audience the up’s and down she experienced as her family was separated through deportation and advised that you should always ask for help when you need it.
When asked, “What roles or projects you’ve been on have shaped what you want to be or do?” Diane responded that being on "Orange is The New Black" taught her good manners and good behaviors when it came to storytelling. It made her proud of who she is and where she came from.
She also brings up that her other roles in "Jane the Virgin" and "Doom Patrol" have made her want to produce and write.
She left the audience feeling inspired reminding them that many stars, including Oprah, started late. She quoted her manager, Josh Taylor, who always says, “Throw your hat in the ring and see what happens.”
