The traditional ruler, said to be a retired army general, was reportedly shot dead when suspected kidnappers invaded his palace on Thursday night.
The state government in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye described the incident as reckless, shocking, and horrific.
The government also tasked the security agencies not to spare any resources to free the abducted persons, and bring the culprits to book.
