The Lockdown is a 2024 martial arts movie directed by Ryan C Jaeger and stars Caity Lotz, Leo Howard, Michael Biehn, and Hon Ping Tang.
The film will center on siblings Charlie (Lotz) and Jack (Howard), who travel to Myanmar to visit their long-lost father (Biehn), who is serving time in prison there. Unbeknownst to them, this is all part of a scheme to frame them for a crime they did not commit and imprison them as well, because this particular prison is far from normal, as the inmates are forced to battle in televised fights for the chance to escape death row in twisted version of professional sports, and the promoters want skilled new fighters (like Charlie and Jack) to boost the ratings. Facing off against the deadliest opponents, for whom losing means a literal death sentence, each match could be their last, and Charlie and Jack must work together if they are ever going to get out.
The film will first premiere as a double feature in select theatres with Art Of Eight Limbs on August 16th, 2024 and be released on digital on August 27th, 2024.
When is the Art of Eight Limbs & The Lockdown release dates?
Art of Eight Limbs and The Lockdown will both arrive in select theaters as a double feature, starting on August 16. This will then be followed by Art of Eight Limbs’ digital release on August 20. The Ludi Lin-led film is directed by Robert Grasmere from a script written by H. Daniel Gross, Ryan Jaeger, and Louis Spiegler. Besides the Mortal Kombat actor, the action thriller will also star Grace Vorananth, Sahajak Boonthanakit, Vithaya Pansringarm with Nicholas Hammond.
“Lin stars as a CIA data analyst and part-time kickboxer,” reads the synopsis. “Sent on a mission to Myanmar, he must infiltrate a martial arts tournament that serves as a cover for an arms dealer auctioning VX Nerve Gas. His objective: deliver a critical detection device to allies. However, as the mission spirals out of control, he is forced to confront the world’s most ruthless fighters, standing as the last line of defense against a time-ticking global threat.”
As for The Lockdown, the R-rated action movie will also be available to rent or own on digital platforms starting on August 27. It hails from director Ryan Jaeger, who helm the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Gross, Cameron Cubbison, and Stephen Niver. It is being led by Arrowverse vet Caity Lotz and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’s Leo Howard. They will be joined by Michael Biehn and Hon Ping Tang.
“The action thriller follows siblings Charlie and Jack, who are trapped in Myanmar’s toughest prison and accused of a crime they didn’t commit,” reads the synopsis. “Forced into televised fights where inmates battle for the chance to escape death row, they face off against the deadliest opponents where each match could be their last.
