“Sand leveling” is just a term that has caught on in lawn care circles to describe using sand to fill in low spot in your lawn. Fixing a bumpy lawn can make a big difference in any lawn renovation but can be a lot of work. Sand is popular to use because, as you can see at the behinning of this video, sand can be smoothed out perfectly on top of a low spot to make the lawn flat. I have bermudagrass which grows through the thick sand with no probkem. I usually recommend people with cool season grasses do this as part of a fall renovation along with a fall overseeding. “Top dressing” then, is the more commonly used term and practice used on professional sports turf. They do light coats of sand more often. Golf courses usually dont have big dips to fill in but they also dont eant to have lots if sand covering the grass for weeks at a time. They do a light coat so the grass is ready to play on quickly. Aerating before top dressing helps get the sand down into the soil profile which helps water and nutrients move down more easily. #topdressing #sandleveling #lawnrenovation
