Version 2 of my Spicy Holiday Nut recipe:
Recipe, Version 2:
Measure out
1/2 cup almonds
1/2 cup cashews
1/2 cup pecans/walnuts
1 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon plant-based margarine (I think it'll be better with margarine)
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon to a scant 1/2 teaspoon (1/2 if you like salty nuts)
Melt margarine in a small fry pan. Add the spice mix, brown sugar and maple syrup. Over medium heat blend these ingredients until the brown sugar is dissolved and everything is well combined.
Pour mixture over nuts. Place nut mixture on a cookie sheet lined with parchment or sprayed with "Pam."
Spread the nuts in a even layer on the cookie sheet and cook for approximately 15 minutes -- checking on and turning every 5 minutes. Don't let them burn! Use your keen sense of smell to know when the nuts are getting toasty.
Remove from oven and allow to cool thoroughly. Enjoy!.
