Most of the items I found at Goodwill this week were someone else’s trash, and outdated junk. Some of these items could have gone into the rubbish heap! But.....I will salvage these old pieces and transform them into cute cottage style decor. All of these projects were challenging and required a bit of extra work to restore them but well worth the time to do it! I transformed a rustic wall hook into a cute cottage style wall hook that would be perfect to hold jewelry or "bits and bobs". I repurposed this with chalk paint and decoupage paper and did it very inexpensively. A 3-piece set of small metal vases originally from Crate and Barrel was unfit for use as decor. The set was scratched and discolored but a sweet coat of rose chalk paint and a few air dry clay rose castings had the set looking cute and cottage-y! The most challenging transformation of all was a silver plated coffee urn that had been dropped and sat crooked on a table, had broken handles, and tons of scratches and tarnish. I recycled the urn into a gorgeous cottage style container using soft rose colored chalk paint and I added to the luscious detail with air dry clay and scroll molds. I did a quick makeover on a piece from last week's video changing it from a neutral colored botanical faux print in neutral colors to classic cottage style wall art using air dry clay, molds, chalk paint, and a transfer with lovely pastel pink roses. My surprise addition at the end of the video was retouching 3 vintage silver plated spoons. These beauties had been hand-painted by someone and had all the hallmarks of cottage style, complete with exquisite hand painted roses.
