Kingsbarns Golf Links, Fife, Scotland - Overlooking the North Sea just 7 miles east of St Andrews, golf has been enjoyed over the links land of Kingsbarns since 1793, when it was formerly known as the Kingsbarns Golfing Society.
Everything changed in 2000 when golf course architect Kyle Phillips reinvented links golf with the opening of the game’s first “modern classic” links layout. The club was immediately recognized by Golf Digest as the world’s best new international course. It was clearly an idea whose time had come.
Modern classics are very much like traditional, except they’re longer (7,227 yards for Kingsbarns), the fairways are wider and there are multiple sets of tees. A challenging yet enjoyable Scottish links course, Kingsbarns features spacious rolling fairways, large greens, and exceptional sea views on every hole. In 2001, it landed on Golf Magazine’s world 100 and was paired with the Old Course and Carnoustie to host the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Today it is World #65 and the 2012 recipient of Golfweek’s Number One Modern Course (built after 1960) in Great Britain and Ireland. A favorite among PerryGolf clients, Kingsbarns Golf Links is not to be missed when you play in St Andrews, Scotland.
