A blepharoplasty is a procedure that can be done in-office with local anesthesia or in an operating room (like ours in Newton, Massachusetts) with general anesthesia to remove excess eyelid skin. This can be done for the upper and lower eyelids. A Blepharoplasty is a great procedure to brighten an aging face, get rid of puffiness in the lower eyes and to remove sagging eyelids or eyebags. However, there are a few scenarios when a patient should not undergo eyelid, or Blepharoplasty surgery.
Dr. Spiegel explains the following times to not get an upper or lower Blepharoplasty:
1. Ptosis
2. Dry Eyes
3. Blepharochalasis
