유네스코 무형유산위원회 제주서 개막…4일 회의 시작
The twelfth meeting of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage has convened on Korea's southern island of Jeju.
The six-day meeting will examine nominations to be added to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding and more.
The meeting will also discuss ways to improve the convention and on the allocation of funds.
There are some 50 nominations this year, including Germany's organ craftsmanship and music.
With already 19 items on the intangible cultural heritage list, including last year's addition of the Haenyeo , or women divers, Korea has to wait until next year to have its next item, Ssirum or traditional wrestling, examined.
