In a major commission for the re-launch of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in November, Graham has created a new moving image work based on The Missing. Collective memory and personal responsibility are themes which underpin this poignant contemplation of one of the most diffi cult issues we as a society have to comprehend.
Receiving its first screening at Tramway before being installed as part of the permanent collection at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Missing is presented as a companion exhibition to the National Theatre of Scotland's production The Missing.
Graham Fagen is one of Scotland and the UK's foremost contemporary artists.
In video, performance, photography, sculpture or text, he creates works which explore how national or personal identity is both created by, and is a response to, its cultural context.
