After just a few kilometers I stop to ponder about the strange encounter I had with a monk the previous day. I talk about our chat with Phu Tok mountain in the background.

Soon after I run across a young cyclist with only one leg. Incredibly he was riding so fast that I genuinely couldn't catch him. It was only when we started to climb that I could start to get close!!

When I finally arrive in the quiet and laid-back town of Bueng Kan I'm surprised how close we are to Laos. I take a walk down to the banks and get so close to Laos I can almost smell it.
Later in the evening as I'm returning to my hostel I see a group of older Thais dancing together by the river and clearly having a great time.

What a day!
